This Whitham replica started its life as a club racer, as it was put straight on the track from the showroom. All the original bodywork was stripped off and packed away in bubble wrap, while the engine and chassis were prepared by Taymar Motorcycles in West Kingsdown to ACU spec.
After a seasons racing, it returned to Taymar's where it sat for a while until its current owner bought it as you see it here, complete with contents of the gravel trap in the bellypan!
The ideal starting point for a Whitham replica you might say.......
|
The first thing that happened was to scrap the race bodywork and refit the genuine plastics and road going equipment. It originally came in to us to make a few subtle changes to the standard graphics; nothing outrageous, just enough to make it a little bit different from every other blue R6 at Boxhill!
However, one thing led to another and it ended up looking as it does today, complete with Harris seat unit and a host of extras to end up as one of the most accurate race replicas possible.

Have a closer look at some of the details on this bike.
Once the bike was back together, it was re-registered from the old 'V' plate to one far more suitable.......just think of what bike it is, and what class it races in, and you're there!
As a result of how it looked once finished, R&G Race Products in Farnborough were keen to use it for modelling their range of crash bumpers at the up and coming WSB meeting at Silverstone, and while it was there it attracted attention from the Belgarda team, which culminated in it being signed by Jamie & Paulo at the Brands round. You can see it featured on the official Belgarda website, and it can also be found in the 2003 Crossbow Calender.
